If you’re a woman who is sick of shit sexist advertising tropes that police female bodies and reduce us to diet-obsessed airheads, this film from director Tiny Bullet is sure to raise, at the very least, a wry smile of recognition, if not a full-on LOL.
The ‘Adpology’ is a short film created for International Women’s Day ‘in collaboration with a group of passionate creative folk from the industry’. Speaking on behalf of the ad industry, it’s a message of repentance from the conscientious folk who want to do better on behalf of female audiences. And, perhaps, it’s a nudge for those in the industry who are still wedded to painful clichés and promoting negative self-image.
Directed by Tiny Bullet – a.k.a. Tina Bull – and produced by Thomas Thomas Films, the film dissects all the eyeroll-inducing banalities so common in advertising. From ‘beach bodies’ to size 12 models in plus sized advertising and borderline-orgasmic yoghurt lovers, nothing escapes Tiny Bullet’s razor sharp eye.
